man falls 300 feet (off a cliff) running from police

Man runs from Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy, falls off 300-foot cliff

By Seattle Times staff

A 48-year-old Eastern Washington man who ran from a Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop last night had to be rescued after falling down a 300-foot cliff.

Around 11 p.m., a deputy pulled the man over in the 24900 block of Highway 530 after running the man's plate and learning that there was an outstanding warrant associated with the vehicle, said sheriff's spokesman Rich Niebusch. The man, who lives in Deer Park, Spokane County, and was driving with a suspended license, gave the deputy his brother's name and then bolted, he said.

The man ran about 20 yards into some woods and in the darkness apparently didn't see the cliff and fell about 300 feet, Niebusch said. A firefighter with the Arlington Heights Fire Department used an infra red device to pick up the man's body heat and a technical rescue team from Marysville was able to bring him out of the ravine.

The man, who was not hurt, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail, Niebusch said.

lol, he is from Deer Park, I have alot of friends from there. The only use I have for that town is a stop for fireworks on our way up to launch a bunch. They have a big discount fireworks tent that has some pretty kick'n deals.

I would have just let him go after that fall

Me too, I would have my squad give him a round of applause then say, "See squad? Now, THAT is one damn dedicated criminal."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it wasn't a SHEER cliff, but actually an extremely steep slope that he slid down.
