Man eats only potatoes for two months.

Nuke two potatoes wrapped in a damp paper towel for about 5 minutes. This just gets them started.
Then unwrap them and place them on a cookie sheet in a preheated 450 degree oven for 30 minutes.

Less than an hour.
Don't need the oven at all. Depending on the size of the potatoes, just pop one or two and push the potato button on the microwave. Well if you do need to bake a bunch of spuds, then indeed use the oven.

I know. That was in response to a poster that said they don't like the outcome of a microwaved potato. Using the microwave for 5 minutes prior to oven baking cuts the cooking time in half and you get the same results as oven baking.

I've been eating nuked spuds since yesterday and they taste fine to me.

I, for one, welcome our Potato Diet Overlords. Fries be unto you, and unto you, and unto you, amen.

Actually, the smaller ones command a higher price.
ACTUALLY, stop using the word actually when it's uncalled for, it is a retarded excuse for thought... and no, given the same potatoes, the smaller aren't worth more. Are you just plain stupid?

No oven = no crisp skin = why bother

Found this article while browsing fount it to be really amazing since a potato farmer decided to prove naysayers wrong by consuming nothing but spuds during a few months. Afterwards not only was he still alive and well, but also ended up becoming healthier on top of this. 20 potatoes per day....

Does he live on Mars by chance?

Could be a lucky metabolism, or lots of others have unlucky ones. If I don't heavily restrict carbs (simple or complex, doesn't matter) I blow up like a balloon at 34. Have for years.
Yes everyone is different. However speaking of carbs, there are lots of cultures worldwide who live on most carbs and don't have the same health issues as we Americans do.

Most of them also don't sit on ass for ~90% of the day, though that's often as much choice as requirement. It doesn't help that we end up with the bargain basement end of the food chain, not to mention Americans generally seem to have no sense of portion control.

True. I don't if this is just me, but since 2004 I noticed there are far less kids riding bikes everywhere then when I was growing up during the 80's/early 90's. Now it is mostly adults I see with bikes.

Yeah same, though to be fair when I was younger we were on our bikes cuz there wasn't much to do inside, unless you just wanted to zone out on tv or get hit by your parents (depending on the household). While I played plenty of video games, they didn't quite have the depth/breadth that they do now, so it's pretty easy to basically live off those as your sole entertainment source, if you want. Add in permanent communication channels with friends, and the all the primary purposes of physical activity are pretty well taken care of, aside from that silly/annoying 'work muscles and burn fat' part of it.
