Just curious, how does someone get hit crossing the street anyway. If there are cars anywhere near I wait, because I assume everyone (as I do when I drive) is not paying attention.

Still though, cardboard is a bit smaller then a person. Jesus christ, that women needs her DL taken away.

Who wants to take bets that when more info is released it turns out that she was talking on her cellphone or putting on makeup?

A horrible accident? An object as large as a human being doesn't just slip under your car unnoticed if you're paying attention when you're driving. When you're driving a car you have an obligation to it in a manner that is not dangerous to others. If he was injured because she wasn't paying close enough attention to the road, she needs to be punished.
At the very least, she should have her driver's license permanently revoked. She is unfit to pilot a car.

No... just hand her his medical bills for all the skin grafts to replace what she grinded off. $100,000 in doctors fees should get her attention.

After reading this line:

"My friend thought it was a dummy, but I said, 'That's a real person. The man is still breathing,"' Obertlik told The Record of Bergen County.

It makes me think that there was another person in the car with her. Which then explains it because she was probably running her mouth at full speed not paying attention at all to what was on the road like most women do.

If u hit a person, it wouldnt just be a dull thud, it would be a loud bang! and what was the man knocked unconcious or something, wouldnt he scream!? i hate to stereotype but that is pretty typical for a woman from my experience, just ignore it and it will go away, i dont think women quite grasp the concept of the damage a car can do or what happens when they get in an accident, just dont seem to realise the significance of momentum and of paying attention and how much mass they are in control of.

Edit: Significance is the wrong word, but i cant think of a better one at the moment... its on the tip of my tongue

A U.S. Army specialist who had just returned from Iraq was hit by a car as he walked toward his grandmother's house, then dragged a half-mile by another vehicle.

Sad thing is, statistically he probably safer in Iraq as a soldier then in his own country.

Obertlik is the guy who noticed the other guy under the car in the parking lot, not the driver or a passenger in the car he was under. Good thing he noticed too, who knows where else she was going after she got her coffee.

Ahh yes, another case of ATOT selective reading comprehension.

What about whoever hit him in the first place and kept going?

Exactly. In the woman's defense, at 6:30am it could've still been fairly dark outside. That, coupled with a downpour, would've made it hard to see the guy were he already lying motionless in the road. She likely still could've and should've seen him, but I can understand how she might not have.
With that attitude, I would permanently revoke YOUR license if I could. :|

why? it seems his thinking follows what the police are saying. It was dark, a bad rainstorm and two cars hit this guy and probably neither saw him. it was an accident and if you want to get gritty about I would put the blame on the guy for not looking before he crossed the damn road.
It was dark and raining when acemcmac was slaughtered, too.

Nice to know your feelings on the matter, though. :disgust:
