Man do I suck at MW2 - tips?

I was a big PC gamer - really into the leagues and competition in COD4 and I bought MW2 for the 360 just like you because of the whole PC gaming dedicated servers issues.

I got an XIM360 and I rape face with it now...

Already at 70 within 2d of play time

I can't believe nobody's seriously recommended you get an XIM360 yet.

If you were good playing on a keyboard and mouse, the XIM360 is the answer for you.

I've got an XFPS 360 (more expensive version of the XIM that allows you to plug a PS2 controller in) and I've actually never used it before. I bought it so I could use a PS2 controller on Tekken 6 and never bought the game...

Have the offical PS3 bluetooth headset.Fired up MW2 - playing with a friend who has a headset also.Its totally hit and miss on the audio quality. One second we can hear eachother fine, the next second all we get is static and garbled mess. Does not seem directly server related, as we swapped games multiple times.V. annoying.

I've had four way comms in games over PSN with crystal clear quality. All depends on the users bandwidth and the headset used. The official one is one of the clearest. I just use an old BlackBerry BT headset I had lying around.

Well damnit.... now you got me thinking about the XIM again. It looks like he is working on version 3 now according to the site.

After a weekend of relaxing and not trying to hard, its really coming to me now. I'm finding what weapons works for me on certain maps, and slowly learning the maps. The only thing I can't get past, is how some guys just seem to spawn from my butt.

Yep, there's not much you can do about that. That's one of the biggest differences between COD4 and MW2 (aside from the new Energy Sword): people whined about getting pinned down and subsequently spawn raped, so IW took a page out of Treyarch's playbook (bad IW, BAD) and now enemies can spawn ANYWHERE.

I know getting spawn raped must have sucked in COD4, but it's not like you couldn't escape it (I did all the time). And shit, if you and your team allow your opponent to gain so much control over the map that you get pinned, then you DESERVE to lose and they DESERVE to win.

But no, bullshit randomness is much, much better and much, much more fair :ROLLSEYEBALLS:

I see your point. I much rather have guys spawning from my loins, then we only spawn in one spot and get murderd by a sniper and a couple of prone big gunners.

I've been playing FPS games on Live for 5+ years, and I STILL suck. Like 1:2 kills to deaths. I'm terrible, and feel the exact same as you.
You can practice all you want to get the feel for the controller, but it seems like the good players either know the maps inside out or are cheating or something, cuz there's no way I can unload a clip into a guy's head and he stabs me once to kill me.
Oh well, stats don't mean nothing anyways. It's still fun.

Nothing against you specifically because a lot of people do this but I think saying someone has "wayyyy too much" time on their hands is a huge cop out. Fact of the matter is you suck at this particular game but instead of admitting it, you say it's because you're cooler than the other guy and are too busy to invest time in playing while he's sitting in his parent's basement drinking Red Bull and racking up experience?

Or on Digg, someone will post something amazing like a painting made in MS Paint that took some guy 8 months to do. It gets thousands of Diggs (approval) and people will comment "Oh man that's really amazing. Breathtaking .. but this guy has waaaaay too much time on his hands."

It's extremely immature to not be able to compliment someone or admit someone is better than you without first insulting the other person.

tip #1, dont play with campers.
tip #2, get a grenade launcher with unlimited grenades.
tip #3, did i mention campers are ruining the entire game? make sure you f bomb them for being assholes several times before you leave their game.

This is what I hate about these games the most. No frontline, no strategy, just random spawning and fragging.

OP you can try finding a few spots to camp and move around between them.
