Man discovers his homemade guillotine really works, cuts off arm

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A man walked into a Bellingham medical clinic Thursday morning after he reportedly cut off his own arm, police said.

According to officers, the man severed his right arm while living in an outdoor camp near the clinic.

At the camp, police found a homemade guillotine and the man's right arm.

The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. His arm was also transported so that doctors could attempt to reattach it.

Police said the man entered the clinic in the 300 block of Birchwood Avenue with the severe injury, where employees called police

Darwin Awards are only for those who have removed themselves from the gene pool. If he had lopped off his penis or head, then he'd be fair game.
 
Wow, and they're going to waste tax payer money to try to reattach his arm? I say sew up the stump, give him some antibiotics and call it a day.
 
a heavy blade dropping directly on brittle bone... i bet it shattered/splintered. must be a nasty wound. but that wouldn't matter because he was probably high as a motherfucker.

If he lopped off his penis he may still be able to reproduce using artificial means so that wouldn't count either.

But yeah, you have to take yourself out of the gene pool to be nominated. I am puzzled why so many people don't seem to understand that element with the Darwin Awards.

We really need to have a ATOT Darwin Award Hall of Shame thread. Not for people who deserve the award, but for people who misuse the term, so that we can all ridicule them in one convenient thread.
