Those cops should be executed, that was totally unnecessary.

Clearly, we need to begin doing submission drills for children starting in grade school. At random throughout the year, someone will burst into the classroom and start shouting at the children and they have to cower in the fetal position in under a second to pass. We could even make submissiveness a graduation requirement.

Even though this incident is an old one, it's worth saying:

This death is completely attributable to the totally wrong-headed belief that it's necessary to "stand your ground" with guns. I don't care if it's a real home invasion or a case of mistaken identity, if a resident whose home is being "invaded" refuses to use a gun, it's very unlikely anyone would be killed. But this macho "stand your ground" attitude gets lots of people killed that shouldn't have been killed.

Let's play out the scenarios.

If it's the cops at the wrong house & you grab your gun, you'll get shot, probably fatally. If you play it cool, you win.

If it's a home invasion & you grab your gun, you'll most likely get shot, given that they already have their guns out. If you play it cool, your chances of survival can't go anywhere but up.

Anybody who hasn't figured out that discretion is the better part of valor has the mind of a child. Armed self defense is only sometimes a good answer, no matter how many Westerns you've watched... and no matter how desperately you want it to be.

The solution is simply to get some technology like the 5th element where the Police can look into our houses at any time and people have to put their hands on the wall inside the yellow circles. That'll fix any future issues like this.

One of them was, albeit not by the state. The cameraman was shot to death (and six other officers injured) while serving a search warrant on a home that was allegedly growing 12-15 marijuana plants.

These things happen, there are bad people in the world and if you want your daughters or wife to have no defense whatsoever while you watch them be brutally assaulted and killed (or lit on fire) then be my guest.

But don't question my abilities to defend my home and family while being a responsible gun owner affecting no one. I have a pistol, shotgun and specifically a Stag3 (Ar15 variant) all of which remains safely away from my children but easily within reach in the middle of the night should I need them.

And spare me the ridiculous argument of this being a rare event, home invasions happen much more frequently than mass shootings.

Exactly, and funny enough this goes back to the majority of fighting men in the armed forces are conservative. Conservatives (ie gun nutters) tend to not take bs from the criminal element and take the fight to them. They also believe in harsher punishment towards criminals.

Liberals are happy to be the victims because their entire platform revolves around being the victim.
