I'm circumcised, and I'm happy for it.

Then again, I was circumcised after birth. 12 years old? I'd say it's up to the kid.

*Paging Mr Titandiddly. Paging Mr Titandiddly.*

Those who have been circumcised will defend it, most likely because to do otherwise would be an admission that their penis is less capable than it "should" be, and we can't be causing ego damage now, can we?;)

At 12 the kid should have all the say. Right after birth, when most people get it done, I don't consider it a problem.

frankly, i agree that the father should decide in this case since he has custody. but at that age, it's problematic. but circumcision is medically better for the body regardless of religion.
let the child decide. but most people today have it done as babies due to the medical benefits of it.

there are other beneficial reasons for circumcision. basing a decision like that solely on a religious implication. that said, i think everyone should have it done.

Oh... ok, I won't trouble you with FACTS that you claim are BS and crap. Source of your information?

We've got a Rachael vs Giada poll already, and here's the monthly tallywhacker thread.

Must be the first week of the month again!

Many behavioral changes are "medically better." Outlaw soda/pop. Make fast food illegal. Ban all drugs. Mandate exercise regiments.
And of course, in terms of sexual health, stop having sex with the ONLY exception being procreation. Recreational sex is dangerous with all the STDs around.

You know what though? Certain behaviors just feel good, and may be detrimental. Foreskin has a LOT of nerve endings, and based in part on what Titandiddly said in his thread, it seems that losing it adversely affects feeling during sex. I'm kind of irritated that I was circumcised, but it seems that I didn't have much choice.
Another argument against circumcision: if a foreskin was really so bad as it's made out to be, evolution would have gotten rid of it a long time ago. If it caused so many infections, those with larger foreskins would have been more likely to die young, while those without or with smaller foreskins would have been more likely to procreate, thus passing on those genes. The fact that they still exist does indicate, at least somewhat, that the foreskin does serve a useful purpose, or if not that, then its presence is not overly detrimental.

The argument that the foreskin harbors bacteria: so does your mouth, but people still kiss. A human mouth is a grotesque bacterial funhouse. Once or twice-a-day cleaning seems to be sufficient. So I think that one shower a day should do the trick for cleanliness.

You could just wash it when you shower, you know. Solves the problem of "omg horrible dirty". We don't cut off our earlobes just because they get dirty when you don't clean behind them.

Look at the bright side - at least the father didn't become a eunuch.

QFT.

I've randomly thought about getting circumcised as an adult, but there's no way I could go through with it.

Considering the kid has already lived with it for 12 years, I imagine that he has already learned to keep his wee-wee clean enough to prevent infections.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

hes not, you can grow it back, Penn & Teller did a show on this subject.

They did, but it was more of a streching of the skin, not growing it back. The nerve endings are lost and no amount stretching can bring them back...

and for those of you wanting info to battle circumcision http://www.nocirc.org/

I'm 26 and it never grew back. Do I have to tell it what to do or say some magic words or something?
