When you live at a location where comcast never messes up it's fantastic.

If you live in an area that has horrible speeds/pings from 6pm to 11pm then good luck getting that fixed.

I live in a relatively poor neighborhood where I'm probably the only one with cable internet (or cable anything for that matter). Also I'm like 2 miles away from the comcast central office. I've gotten > 100 mbps burst with docsis 3.0, 20 mbps upload, and single digit pings. Also in the 5 years I've lived here I've had about 2 hours total of down time, both weather related.

Comcast is good or bad based on the zone. Here I was getting 8000ms pings (yes 8 seconds, comcast holds my record for longest returning ping with 0% loss). Tech said that since he could ping the modem that it was fine!

I finally switched when that 8000ms ping finally converted to 5-20 20 second "time outs" an hour. Annoying trying to stream something with that.

Wow, satellite based maritime broadband internet systems like inmarsat get better ping times than that.

Comcast is great! If you have it available in your area you have access to some of the fastest internet available!

To be honest, the only reason why Comcast is good in NJ is because RCN 5 or 6 years ago actually upgraded a lot of the hardware before they sold it off. We would likely be in the same boat if some one actually thought upgrading the infrastructure was worth it.
