Man, Comcast is Great!

i thought this was going to be another one of those "you have been tagged" retardo threads that keep popping up.

I have no problem with comcast Internet but their digital cable sucks ass. Their digital cable boxes are increadibly slow and their HD chanels are always going down or have shitty signal.

The only problem I've ever had with Comcast internet was my old Linksys router crapping out....and that was on my end, not theirs. Never had a problem with ther basic cable service either.

Eh, I used to play with this guy on Warcraft 3. We were a highly ranked 2v2 team and after a certain point the only way we could move up the rankings was for him to change to DSL because Comcast would randomly drop every day around 5-8 for some reason.(peak hours for some of the tourneys too..it stunk! 😛)

Comcast used to have a TRULY horrible reputation (instead of just a bad one) back in the late Starcraft days...back when I was still on dial up..- -;;

I just switched to comcast recently but back in the Starcraft days I rember all my friends with comcast always having problems.

I have charter and I pay for 5mb but get 15-20. decent

Comcast sucked when I used to have it at an old location. Thankfully I'm on isomedia now (small company, has fiber in all the houses in my development) and the speeds are great. I do pay for 20/10 ($55 a month) and they mostly deliver but the uptime is unbeatable. I just tested it and this is what it showed...

EDIT** Ha, just noticed I had utorrent running with 4 dl/up while it was testing... good times...

Comcast. 12/2 supposedly. I guess we see speedboost there, but I guarantee you I get the 12/2 easily sustained. Shrug. Comcast had LATENCY PACKET LOSS issues early in the day, back when CS 6.6 was out and what not. Compared to DSL it certainly had some issues. I'd say by 2004 or so they were all resolved, and I saw no reason to even look back at DSL. I had DSL in my 1st apartment in college and Comcast the next. All the time we had Comcast at home. I had to say my Comcast experience was FAR BETTER than DSL. Way faster speeds, and by then no ping issues at all for latency critical games.

It's a router/firewall issue I believe with Starcraft. Starcraft is EXTREMELY sensitive to routers and firewalls. If you join a game w/ a firewall it could go into slideshow mode for everyone. It ALWAYS happens on my Linksys router unless I configure port forwarding correctly. And I know it's me because after joining 10 games in a row and seeing it lag like mad tells you either the whole BNet is messed up or it's just me. Some router swapping showed me later that it's something with the firewall. Took a few tries later and configuration tweaks to get my Linksys to go.

Comcast (originally had 5mb a couple years ago, they bumped up the speeds), not bad for going across the continent

i love to hate on comcast, but i was actually pretty happy with them last night. I got 1.5MB/sec throughout the entire 3 gig win7 iso file.

they used to be slow as crap, but verizon is deploying fiber near my house and I guess comcast upped their speeds to retain customers. Competition is great

Certainly as terrible as the forums make them out to be ....

Michael

Try living in an area that doesn't have Fios. Then it sucks.
Even watching streaming video sucks during the early evening hours.
I was much better til Fios moved into Boston. Then Comcast took our bandwidth and moved it to the Boston area.

I've only been using Comcast since I moved down to Florida, but I have had no problems since then. I get a sustained 1.5MB/s consistently. Haven't had any problems with the HD/digital cable either.

Remember those speed tests mean nothing because of powerboost. The sites hosting the speed tests should have all comcast ips listed and perform a longer d/l test to show the real speeds.

Comcast is good or bad based on the zone. Here I was getting 8000ms pings (yes 8 seconds, comcast holds my record for longest returning ping with 0% loss). Tech said that since he could ping the modem that it was fine!

I finally switched when that 8000ms ping finally converted to 5-20 20 second "time outs" an hour. Annoying trying to stream something with that.

This

My speeds sustained no powerboost and no caps.
