Yep. I remember the thread about squatters in England, and people were throwing fits here. This is the same thing. The guy is a scam artist, plain and simple.

You have a good point (people who support this guy are mostly hypocrites), but the difference in the reaction isn't because of the location. The difference is because of the victim. If the victim was an individual, people here would not be applauding the squatter. The victim is a bank though, and a lot of people are happy to see a bank screwed.

Good for him, screw the bank. They and the mortgage company, or whoever now owns the paper, sat around with their thumbs in their asses and fucked up. The previous owner could have went back and squatted in his own house, if he actually knew the law.

I wonder if people would feel the same way if the bank itemized how much of their mortgage payment went to paying for fraud and deadbeats each month. It seems that some people don't comprehend the fact that fraud increases the amount that the rest of us pay.

Reminds me of some other woman saw on the news, who worked for a lawfirm or something, refused to pay her mortgage on her house, and keeps gaming the legal system to stall eviction proceedings indefinitely.


And this thread's story is in Texas, don't the citizens there have other "methods" of enforcing what is just? 😉

In this case the owner can come by with the paperwork showing they have the deed and have the police remove him. The owner walked away and the bank is not around to ask him to leave either.

In Britian; people move in a house where people still live and the police don't do anything.
