Man beats ATM with hatchet

The locals never disappoint, this was about 2 miles from my house, I guess this moron didn't know that all ATM's these days have cameras inside LOL..

"A man was arrested after South Daytona police said he beat an ATM with a hatchet, a police report shows. The vandalism occurred early Sunday morning just after 1 a.m., when police said 30-year-old Phillip Moore walked up to the ATM at the Suntrust, 2580 S. Ridgewood Ave.

Before the surveillance camera went blank, it took at least three images of Moore standing in front of the ATM with a personal check, taking a swing at the machine with his right hand, police said.

After a handful of police officers identified Moore from the surveillance photos, he was arrested early Monday as he rode his bicycle along Big Tree Road and Golfview Boulevard.

He was charged with criminal mischief and burglary to a structure.

To be fair, I hear the resorts are nice, but it's kind of like Mexico, you don't really want to wander away from the perimeter.

Funny thing is ATMs have a safe at the bottom and the money is drawn out, so you can break the machine all you want but you're probably not getting to the money very easily.

There was a few ATM attacks where they rammed the door of a closed mini-mart and stole the entire machine and another where they used a concrete saw and sawed it out of the front of a supermarket!, I wonder if they will start installing pingers in them so if that happens they can track it's location..
