Nice and fruity in the begining, and nice hoppy, kind of piney bitterness. I thought New Belgium's 1554 Black Ale was the best I had so far, but this one comes close to displacing it.

Anyone else here ever have it? And any idea if it's distributed in Massachusetts (I go back there this fall)

Oh, BTW, does anyone have any suggestions for some "equivalents" for the 1554 Black Ale in Boston? Unfortunately, New Belgium doesn't ditribute it there. Thanks

Arrogant Bastard is awesome, but Stone does make some other brews that are better. The Ruination IPA is definitely in my top 5, but Lagunitas is always coming with some new-fangled strange named beer to throw off my favorites. OP: if you can get Lagunitas in your area, try the 12th Anniversary Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale. Very strange name, but an awesome beer.

I love ABA, I live next to this amazing liquor store now that stocks it cold even.. has a weird hint of grapefruit to me, no one else seems to think so though.

If you live in boston, all you should ever drink is Sam Adams...

It's always a good decision...

Ruination is a great beer. But since it's summer, I've been drinking more wheat beers lately. If you're into them, try the Schneider & Sohn Aventinus Wheat-Doppelbock, it's not a light fruity weisse beer and it's great with grilled food. I'm lucky to have a good liquor store a few blocks from my house that has dozens of these good beers cold. You can always find something new and interesting.

Hell yeah. Had some at a birthday party last weekend.

Try it with some fruit. Sounds strange..but it matches reallly well with raspberries.
