I've said it before and I'll say it again. Kaep's play depends on his confidence. You can see the difference when he is playing with confidence vs. when he is not, and he has been playing without any confidence for most of the season except in short bursts. We saw it in the opener against GB when it came to passing, but even then he didn't have any confidence in his scrambling. You can see it every time he hesitates before taking off. With that hesitation by the time he commits it is often too late and the defense has had enough time to close and contain, whereas if he had just taken off the second things went south he could have had decent gains.Watching the 49ers play offensive was just gross. The most horrifying stat they showed during the game, before the end of the game we were like 1st or 3rd in the league for running the ball. Passing DEAD LAST.
It just seems any time we face some adversity no one on offensive steps up. I know it seemed like just about everyone went out with an injury yesterday (I really hope Eric Reid is back, that kid is a beast), but it's just god awful. The WR's get no separation and when Kaep delivers a good ball, the 2nd string TE just drops it.
I had to turn if off, it was so ugly. If Crabtree isn't back to form when he returns (which I doubt he will be), we won't be playing in the off season.
His passing game is the same thing, too much hesitation. Once he strings a few completions together you can see the switch has been flipped, suddenly he delivers passes precisely and with some zip. Hopefully Crabtree/Boldin/VD will all be healthy soon, that should help a lot.
