Watching the 49ers play offensive was just gross. The most horrifying stat they showed during the game, before the end of the game we were like 1st or 3rd in the league for running the ball. Passing DEAD LAST.

It just seems any time we face some adversity no one on offensive steps up. I know it seemed like just about everyone went out with an injury yesterday (I really hope Eric Reid is back, that kid is a beast), but it's just god awful. The WR's get no separation and when Kaep delivers a good ball, the 2nd string TE just drops it.

I had to turn if off, it was so ugly. If Crabtree isn't back to form when he returns (which I doubt he will be), we won't be playing in the off season.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Kaep's play depends on his confidence. You can see the difference when he is playing with confidence vs. when he is not, and he has been playing without any confidence for most of the season except in short bursts. We saw it in the opener against GB when it came to passing, but even then he didn't have any confidence in his scrambling. You can see it every time he hesitates before taking off. With that hesitation by the time he commits it is often too late and the defense has had enough time to close and contain, whereas if he had just taken off the second things went south he could have had decent gains.

His passing game is the same thing, too much hesitation. Once he strings a few completions together you can see the switch has been flipped, suddenly he delivers passes precisely and with some zip. Hopefully Crabtree/Boldin/VD will all be healthy soon, that should help a lot.

Would you be open to the conclusion that Kaep may possibly be simply overrated? The way Smith is playing in KC makes it appear he is...dumping a veteran, proven player for a unproven one probably wasn't a good idea.
The way Smith is playing? It's not like he's putting up pro-bowl numbers and KC still hasn't faced any good teams. Smith's only major positive was his ability to avoid interceptions.

I have a feeling KC will be playing Brock Osweiler this week just because that's all KC ever plays, backup QBs.

Just have to hope Manning doesn't miss much time if he does indeed need to miss some

Smith didn't get a raw deal, it was an unfortunate situation for everyone involved. They made the right call and came a few plays away from winning the SB with the choice.

Can we just get over this choice that happened a year ago? Who is still bring it up?

I hope so, I just get the feel that other that Davis, no one on our team has any speed. With him being such a high priority he's taken a beating and the injuries show it. Kaep has a cannon for an arm and he has shown he can be very accurate, but it seems it's just too tall of an order to have to make perfect passes (due to lack of separation) all the time. I just don't get it either, you'd think with a solid run game and some play actions our pass game would be better.

Looks like Manning is playing Sunday after MRI revealed nothing new, thank god

I think the MRI was just precautionary because he was hit pretty hard. They didn't want an injury that was minor turn into a major one with another hit in the KC game. I think Manning will be getting these more often now that he is old.

Some great lines from the weekend;

Ed Reed; We were outcoached and outclassed

Jerry Jones; Mulligan on Rob Ryan?

Ed is right, the Texans also signed him during the off-season, so the Texans management was out-managed too, if that's the right word.

I was thinking that a windows has opened. No Rogers, swept the Bears...we have a good chance to host a playoff game.

And it was good to see Calvin get off the snide against Tillman a little bit, though kept under a 100 yards but had 2 clutch TD's... even Tillman (who I think it arguably the top cover guy in the league) simply cannot cover him 1-on-1 all the time.

I mean, if we had Tillman, sure...I'd trust his cover abilities most of the time, but as was shown, you'd need to give him help in the RedZone as he cannot jump with Calvin.

Good win, though.

Tillman has been fighting a bad knee all year and still isnt 100% for sure

Not that he wouldnt need help on the high ones against megatron, anyone would/does

Not really, going to be whoever doesn't win the west & south.

the NFC north has its easy part of the schedule left

Panthers have NE and 2xNO left and the jets

the eagles and cowboys play the entire NFC North, ealges play the cards too

cards play (the eagles, duh, one each sea and niners, and the colts)

niners have sea, cards, NO, wash

pretty much anything can happen. unless you were inferring that the NFC North isnt very good, which is.....laughable considering the west and south havent looked consistent either

Tillman always does an excellent job on Calvin, so that matchup is always great to see and will be for years to come.

However, I was questioning why Chicago even let Cutler play as he was really getting the crap beat out of him all second-half. Their O-line basically didn't leave the locker room after halftime -- they quite possibly set him back a couple weeks.

Bears aren't done, though...and the Packers quite possibly could be.

crap crap crap. was happy I managed to snag james in several leagues and he goes and breaks his ankle.

kaeps ability to throw interceptions (and get sacked) is what lost the game for them yesterday.

replacing smith with kapernick was idiotic. theyd invested seven or so years in smith, and then when they finally had him playing ok they replaced him with kaep in the middle if a winning season based on performance in two games and his biceps, just in time to lose the superbowl. harbaugh is as overrated as kapernick is

Maybe Chad Pennington is still looking for a job?

I know Cutler is hurt right now which makes this kind of funny to talk about when discussing replacement of an injured QB...

But...

In lieu of searching for a good enough starting QB via the draft they should offer a contract to Cutler in the off season. Come back home to Nashville.

Vince Young would probably like to come back to the Titans right now.
