Malware? Mac Cinema Install

So I saw the hilarious Scandinavian Midwesterners invade Springfield episode of the Simpsons and decided to look for it online. Now I'm a bit out of the loop as far as Hulu and Youtube and all that go. I came across the first link and clicked on it. There was a video box that installed a package for "Mac Cinema" which it said was a necessary codec. It even popped up with an official Mac installation .dmg package. So I install it and restart my browser, but the online video doesn't work. I take a closer look at it, and the video is actually within a frame and linked to a porno site. /facepalm

Ugghh... What kind of Malware did I get on my computer and how do I get rid of it? I tried searching for "Mac Cinema" but it's not coming up.

Mac is NOT immune to viruses. It is just not a targeted platform for viruses, the same way it is for games. Not enough people use it to be worth there time. That said, there have been instances where it was worth someone's time. In fact, there was some news about some malware in a pirated version of cs4 up on pirates bay. This is why you should not run as admin. If you have an admin account and a user account you can't infect your system with malware as easily. And you could always make a new user account and copy over your important data.

See, you didn't get a Virus, a virus, much like its biological namesake, self replicates. You got a Trojan. Much like the trojan horse, you had to open the door, and then well... you know... give it your password, at least once in order for it to install.

Is this a joke?

You did a random search, for something that generally is considered illegal, clicked on the first link that popped up and THEN gave it admin permission to install an app on your system? C'mon!
