No death penalty.

So I get to pay to house and feed him for life.

This person killed without thought, and kept an area of the USA paralyzed with fear for months.

The familes of the murdered should be allowed to extract whatever punishment they want in a locked room broadcast on national TV, short of killing him.

That may deter future idiots such as him.

Were you on the jury?

I was disappointed too, but I did not hear all the evidence and whatever mitigating circumstances that may have existed.

This is true, which renders the "it costs too much to keep them alive" argument useless. That said, he still should have gotten the death penalty. This issue shouldn't be a financial one.

You gotta love it. Anti-death penalty activists make it next to impossible to execute someone, and create tens of millions of dollars in court costs... not to mention ten-plus years of wasted time... AND THEN they have the gall to advertise that it is more expensive to execute a person than jail them for life.

Well, DUH! It's YOUR fault is is that way! (Targeted at the anti-DP activists)

I don't care how much it costs, just making a general statment. Death penalty is fine by me if that is the conclusion of the jury.

That's a bit of a stretch.

How is that a stretch ?? That whole Washington DC area was paralyzed for a couple of months that was going on.
People didn't want to go to work, kids didn't go to school, people couldn't do anything at night.
I don't think anyone in that area could honestly say they didn't live in fear.
If thats not paralyzed, explain what is.

First off, it was three weeks. Second, I don't know anyone that was "paralyzed". Was it a little spooky? Yes. Paralyizing? No.

Yeah, no doubt. Without all the crap, capital punishment would actually be very economical. For only $7.49 per 100ft, you could dispose of several Malvos for the cost of lunch at Subway, and since it's UV resistant, you can use it again and again. It really doesn't have to be as difficult as we make it.

I believe in the death penalty, but I'm not sure it is right in this case.

We are all lemmings, bad parents (yeah, I know he's not really his father) make bad kids. He had the worst.

Hmmm...the first shooting occured on Sept 5.
They were captured on Oct 24.
Thats more than 3 weeks.

And the term paralyzed he used was to describe how people weren't able to do things they normaly do.

It's gonna go like this - they keep trying him in order of death penalty eligibility until one state kills him. Muhammed isn't going to be tried anywhere else, since Virginia already has his head.

Maryland, unfortunately, can't execute him because the death penalty here is retarded and requires multiple deaths in ONE incident. Virginia may keep retrying him until they run out of Virginia murders - their death penalty argument is strongest there. Rack up another jury and do it all over again.

The first shooting in the DC area was Oct 2.

And I know what you and the OP mean by paralyzed, and I'm telling you it's a stretch. I know of no one that was unable to do things they normally did, and while I don't know everybody in the DC area, almost everyone I know is in the DC area, including myself. People were not cowering in their homes, people were not running in a zig-zag to get inside grocery stores, people still bought gas - no one was "paralyzed". People were a little scared, but not "paralyzed". OK?
