This is a repost...

But the problems with this study are:

1.) Okay, gay men have brains that respond differently to pheromones than straight men, in fact, "more like women's brains." But the sample size is TWELVE, hardly representative of the gay population of the entire world. So twelve people had similar responses. What does that tell us? Nothing. We'd need to see a FAR more comprehensive study to mean anything.
2.) We can measure brain activity, but that tells us very little more than there is electrical activity in that region of the brain. That's it, folks. ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY. This doesn't tell us very much more than that a certain area of the brain is active. We can't say what that means, if it means anything at all. So essentially, this study is saying that twelve people had brain activity in a certain part of the brain which was *similar* (but remember, they can't say identical because we have no idea what the hell "brain activity" is) to women's brain activity and they are similar by the fact that they are homosexual.

Just to play devil's advocate, compulsive gamblers also have different brain responses to gambling than other people:p

I should add...

I think the underlying interpretation of the results in this study is that gay men are different than straight men, and in fact are more like women...or at least, that's the message they WANT you to take given the results.

Awfully convenient that this is the common gay stereotype, isn't it? A gay man is not a man, he is more like a woman.

The study's results are often watered down and overshadowed by a [insert political orientation here] media with an agenda out for it anyway. The only real way to be sure would be to get your hands on the original study paper.

Fruit Files, a typo in the OP

People in that thread were going on and on about how it was only fruit flies that exhibited this behavior, i wanted to show some experimentation done on humans, even though it's not entirely the same
