Malariacontrol.net

I hope my little fire can help out. I don't think we'll take BOINC.BE, with my added output we might take Canada come 40days from now. 😀

Once I reach 100,000 creds in Einstein@Home (probably in two weeks time) I'll head over to malariacontrol.net till I reach 100,000 creds there - that's 70,000 creds to do! 🙂

Great news BMC!!🙂

Alyx just blew right past me!!

Too fast for me to toss ya a !!

Nice crunchin'!!

For those of you that are new to malariacontrol (like me):

1) the "regular" wu's (wu_xxxxxxx) show "progress" in BOINC
2) you need Sun's java installed to crunch the "optimizations" (opt_xxxxxxxxx).
3) The optimizations (opt_xxxxxxx) do NOT show progress in BOINC but not to worry, they crunch for about 2 hours and then move on (normal behavior)
4) Why do I have a lot of "pending credit" WUs? Many require a quorum of 3. WU sent to 3 clients. 3 must be completed before credit is assigned (error checking?).

For a little fun, click on a WU and choose "show graphics" in boinc. This brings up scientific relevant graphics/chart. Now press "m" to show Mosquito Cam!!!😛

Your younger children may enjoy this!

cheers!!

The wu_xxxxxxxx WUs currently work on a new malaria vaccine.

And you don't need to Java, the most recent version of the optimizer app includes all the necessary files to run it in a sort of sandbox, that's why you have to download around 20mb the first time you get a WU of that type.

The map WUs run best on AMD64 cpus!

ATTENTION: please keep small caches: 0.1-0.5 days, opt and map WU sometimes only take a few seconds, this means that boinc.exe will run at 100% for most of the time instead of the science app. (client_state.xml will quickly get very big and boinc.exe has to move and write up and forth in it.)

I've had a handful of computers working on the Malaria project since it was in early beta. I like this project but for some reason a program that runs on lot of my computers doesn't like it so I can't really add any more production right now. Seeing this new "blood" for Malaria research is great and I look forward to quickly losing my #1 spot on the team very soon! 🙂

Thanks! Its still the morning so I guess I'll have to wait on the beer anyways...

Whaaa! Ars Technica has 60k RAC, they'll be past us in 2 weeks. We need a bit more steam!

Seems the project was one of 4 featured on their site front page so they've been gaining members pretty fast.

Thanks for this thread, biodoc

I think Malariacontrol.net is a great project.

It has the potential to help millions of people. And it has the potential to help those people soon.

It's 😎 to see the big numbers you and Alyx are posting...I'm just trying to keep up😉

Thanks for the welcome.
I am not all in. I have to go back to riesel sieve since I did start a thread here to drum up support for it.

That's the reason I started this project after "being away" for a few years: Malaria is the most deadly disease in the world. Finding a cure / vaccin could save million of lives.

Welcome Neurodog & SlangNRox!!

Thank you Doc.

Are you all in, Neurodog?

I have a feeling our RAC will be heading North pretty quick with the TeAm assembled...

I'm all in but I'm dissapointed with my Daily numbers.

It'll take a few days to see your maximum output on malaria.

They send the majority of the WUs out to three different clients. You won't get credit for a WU until they receive the results for all three.

Go to your "account" page and then click on "pending". Here you'll see all the Wu's you have completed but the assigned credit is waiting for the "quorum of 3".

Patience is a virtue on this project!!😉

It's not as "bad" as SETI in this way, though. With the short deadlines of ~4 days, the credits start rolling in pretty quick.
