I can't find the thread that mentioned this, but does anyone bother doing this? I want to give making my own pizza a shot. But considering how involved it is, I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to make a bunch at a time. Or am I just insane?

Not that pizza is healthy by any means, but I figure maybe it'd be a tad healthier. Only other issue is it's hard to beat $5/pizza when it's on sale.... heh.

While I'm at it, anyone have any good recipes?

You can buy pre-frozen crusts. It wouldn't take long to put some sauce and cheese/toppings on.

That's probably not a bad idea. I'd definitely get one of those vacuum seal gadgets that seals food so they stay fresh longer.

I haven't made bulk frozen pizza, although I have made fresh mini pizzas. I use whole wheat pitas, a combo of tomato sauce, pasta sauce and pesto for the base, mozzarella, fresh veggies and any kind of meat/veggie meat.

My wife and I have made our own pizza dough with this recipe. It makes 6-8 mini pizza doughs that can easily be frozen and cooked later.

recently I've been making Boboli Pizza's. I hadn't made em in YEARS then saw em in the store and decided to make some again. Good stuff.

Generally when you spend time making something from scratch, you want to eat it fresh. I saw the thread title and said wtf. But unless you have a deep freezer and are planning on making enough for a long time (more than 1 or two dinners), you probably won't freeze it. I'd suggest getting some premade dough or some dough mix. If you are going to make a pizza from scratch, may as well go all the way. You can buy the mix easily and cheaper than you can the premade crusts. Then, use pesto for the base, add cheeze, veggies, and meat. Bake as per dough instructions. Its pretty easy actually.

the trick is making a crust that can be frozen and thawed and still bake into something edible.

I don't see the point in doing this. You could go to a Papa Murphy's and buy a few to freeze.
