Making Vista Desktop look like XP

Is there a way (an how) to make Vista's desktop look more like XP.

As installed Vista's Desktop is way to busy and I suspect taking up a lot of CPU and Memory to just look pretty (to some)

right click on the desktop, click Personalize, click Themes, select Windows Classic from the Theme Settings drop down box.

Actually, Aero moves the desktop rendering to the graphics card. This removes the desktop rendering from the CPU and memory on the motherboard. Because of this, disabling Aero does not result in any gain in performance or resources.

If you want a more XP type interface, just switch to Aero Basic and the desktop will behave more like XP. The GPU will still be used to draw windows, unlike switching to classic mode which may use more resources than Aero. You can also go into the personalize menu and turn on and off effects to suit your taste.
