I lost my vacuum tubes when I moved. I guess they fell off or something. It's harder than hell to get under the furniture now, but that's life, right?
Maybe I can tape a bunch of paper towel tubes together and use those.

To go through all this trouble to create a.... radio? :)

Very cool, but so... useless.

I don't think you got my point.
He created a tube by hand and assembled a radio out of it. Geek factor - very high. Usability and practicality - very low.

You can't use his tubes in hi-end amps: tubes used there are much more sophisticated than a pair of cathode-anodes: dual triodes, several grids in them, etc, and a very high level of vacuum. All of this unachievable in a home workshop. Hence his tubes aren't good for anything more than a radio.

i never say his tubes can be used for hi end amps. i was just saying in general what specific application it tubes r used for today

fyi, there are still many older people who prefer tube radio over transistor radio.

usability and practicality - subjective. obviously u have no need for tubes because u porbaly dont have a tube radio. if u still have a tube radio, which there r many people who do, then obviously it is practical and usable.

Hard to beat the warm tones of a tube. My guitar amp uses vacuum tubes.

They're usage is pretty limited now days, but high end audio equipment still uses them.

*edit*

Didn't see you had responded later on.

if u get enjoyment out of making tube and u make a radio, its not useless. u have a use for the tube

obviously, this thread is no about the usefulness of his tube but about his work

Ugh. Dude, give it a rest. I understand what you said. I would have understood it even better if you typed in straight Russian (me fail English? umpossible!), but it's a moot point.
