this is such a shame, but I don't think my BBQ is working properly, so I gotta pan fry these ladies :(

Wilted spinach sautee, mashed potatos with carmelized onions and a nice Cabernet or Red Zinfandel should pretty much fit the bill. :D

Interesting. Sounds like some nice champagne/sparkling wine would go nicely with that combo.

A couple of nice alternative would be fresh white corn on the cob or ratatouile, if you're into that.

I usually like to eat broccoli with steak. Potatos are good too, but I don't want to wat all those carbs.

Mmmmm.....maybe. It'd have to be a pretty "big" white wine to work with something as heavy as a steak. I'll usually opt for a heavy red (Cab, Zin, or Amarone) with steak since they overpower most foods and you don't get to drink them that often (since I don't eat steak all that often). ;)

Hehehe......you're eating a big piece of marbled, carcinogenic, cholesterol-laden, colon-blocking rare cow and you're worried about carbs. :p

If he is following the atkins plan he is allowed to eat all the red meat he wants...in fact Fat or cholestrol is not an issue accoring to that diet.

mashed potatos and gravy!

Steak fries are good too, but not the frozen ones you buy at the store.

Twice baked potatoes, heavy on the sour cream, a small fresh salad with croutons, real crumbled bacon (not "Bac-O-Bits"), cheese, and ranch dressing, some garlic bread (with or without cheese), some homemade honey-bourbon merinade for the steak, garlic slivers slipped into the steak, cooked halfway between rare and medium rare, a good cigar, and a glass of whiskey next to me = heaven

EDIT: obviously, due to the numberous parts and time involved in preparation, this is something you make for a family gathering or other large event.

Also, in case you didnt notice, when I decide to go all out and have a great tasting meal, "healthy" is not in my vocabulary.

Couscous
Bleu Cheese on top of the steaks.

Also for those who love steaks but can't BBQ every day, invest in a CAST IRON SKILLET. Everything that touches that thing turns to gold here.

somebody got a lot of top wine tasters together, blind folded them, and asked them to say if the wine they were drinking was white or red and they couldn't do it
