What do you mean you do not have himem.sys or emm286.sys?You should not load them when you make a BIOS upgrade. Why dont you try to boot in safe mode command prompt only?

If you have dual boot, select Win9X and hit F8 right away, select Command prompt only, then run the flash. I've done this 3 times on my BH6.

Browes the wIN2k CD and find a directory coold "bootdisk" then run the program bootdisk.exe and it will create 4 bootable floppy setup disks.

Hyperchronismos i have those files -- what i meant is that i need to create a boot disk w/o those files on it -- just a command.com on the disk.

anyways, i'll give all those suggestions a try.

:)
thanks all

As others have hinted, you need a DOS/Win9x startup disk. AS Win2K is not based on DOS, there is NO WAY you can make such a disk with just Win2K files.

You can make an "Emergency repair disk" under Win2k which is a single floppy unlike the four floppies needed for installation. But I don't know what it boots you to.You can make one from Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Backup->Create Emergency disk.

an ERD is NOT bootable. its for doing a repair installation of NT. you need someone with 9x installed to make you a DOS boot floppy.

dont make a win98 startup disk, just format a floppy and have it put the system files on it.
