Making money being good at video games

I have read about these services that allow you to play video games online for cash. If you kill somebody you make a little cash...get killed and you lose a little cash. Anybody know the names or sites of these services?

It would seem to me that something like this would be MUCH too susceptible to cheating.

Right now the only game that is supported it RTCW.

There are two major sites that are doing it. I don't remember either of them. Wired ran a thing with three reviewish things, then MaxPC ran an article blurb on two of them.

More or less, you pick one of their servers, (nickel, quarter, dollar, etc.) then its a 1 for 1. You die, you lose a dollar. You kill, you win a dollar. The site takes something silly like 17% of what you win.

I assume you pay up before you start playing, ala "credit".

Pretty dumb IMO.

I only know a little bit about it.....but you have a running account with money in it.....if you are good the account gains in value. If people keep kicking your a$$ than the account value lowers.

Hah. I just found the sites. www.ultimatearena.com and www.youplaygames.com
Only thing is that they only deal with RTCF and Americas Army. I like this idea....I'll do it when it starts to catch on more.

It is possible to make money as a gamer but you won't make much and what you do make the government will probably take 60% of it.

weird.

i can /pharm cash in daoc pretty easily, make a lot of money ebaying platinums.

some guy has a 20 computer farm that exploits UO and sells gold in big stacks.
