Ok, i have a domain name now, from NameCheap.com

Well, i am hosting my website myself so to be able to get to my page I set it to forward the URL to my IP adress... So when i type my domain name, it goes to the index of my site and says my domain... then when i click an "enter" link, it links to my "home.html" in my server directory... Well, it goes there but the URL still just reads mydomain.com!?!? What i mean is that i can't get it to say mydomain.com/home.html

The forward keeps all the pages of my site (in the adress bar of the browser) just saying mydomain.com with no "/page.html" directories

Ok, so ive never done website stuff before... how the hell do i fix this!?!?!?

hmmm... cant seem to find that... ill keep looking... any more suggestions though? some website know it alls? I can host a server and write HTML... but i cant put up a site... Damn, im a n00b
 
bumpity bump bump bump... are you telling me on ANANDTECH i havent gotten a response!!?!?!? this is outrageous 😉

There are definitly too many nerds (us anandtechees) around... in 10 mins a thread will be bumped to the third page without a response... best forum around 😉

Or figure out shiot on their own by contacting namecheap.com instead of sitting on their ass crying when nobody waves their magic wand and fixes it?

First hit when I searched for "URL forward address bar pass subdirectories"

Having worked for an ISP for years and understanding how the intarweb works and knowing exactly what his problem is, even I wouldn't have known to search google for something including "bar pass subdirectories" so it's obvious that the OP would have either.

Having worked for an ISP for years and understanding how the intarweb works and knowing exactly what his problem is, even I wouldn't have known to search google for something including "bar pass subdirectories" so it's obvious that the OP would have either.

You're right, I only know of the pass subdirectory part because I had a similar problem a while back. So I tried searching google again, this time with "URL forward address bar" and the same link was still my first hit.
 
or, you could have been like me, who knows he has absoulty no knowledge, and payed a lil price for people who do know, to help me as I slowly learn.
