Making Hotel Reservations

In a few months me and some friends are going to be travelling several hours away to a music festival and we have come to the point where we need to book a hotel. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with how old one must be to check into a hotel or reserve a room. Any information would be greatly appreciated, as I tried searching on several hotel chains websites and could not uncover the answer to this question.

hotels.com,
travelocity
priceline

the 3 above never fail me.

cheaper stuff can be at hostels.com, for bed and breakfast style places

21 most places. If you have a valid credit card in your name most will not check your age. (But I'm not telling you to lie about your age on the application)
