So it's my Grandmother's bday and the entire family is here. For some God forsaken reason, my mother decided to put on Sweet Home Alabama. Now, I hate this movie. However, the male character in the movie makes glass by putting metal rods in sand by the lake during a thunderstorm (and unfortunately doesn't get blown the hell away) and when they get struck, there's glass. I know that sand super heated will turn into glass, but would the metal cause any negative effects? Possibly get embedded in said glass?

It's thundering and lightning outside so I'd totally run around with a huge metal rod (take your pick at how to "Fixed" this) but there's no sand around here...Anyone have any thoughts?

I used to have a very nice piece made when a 70Kv electrical line hit the ground.

When I quit the electrical utility, I gave it to a friend in management.

(don't remember the correct term for such pieces of glass though)

It's true.

It's not like you're going to make a window or something though.
