Making cat5e cables...the ends connectors don't *pop* in, what am I doing wrong?

Bought 100' of cable, a crimper, some connectors and boots. Read off a guide on the net of the standards for wiring, do so and crimp. However the connectors don't *pop* in like my store-bought cables. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, the cables do work, as I'm using it right now on this PC to connect to the net. But they can be pulled out easy.

Yeah. I had some once that were packaged tightly. This kind of trick worked for those.

thanks guys. I decided to inspect my store bought cables, and saw that the clip was farther away from the connector than on mine, so I bent them, and they snap now. I was a bit worried I'd snap it off, so I didn't go too far. I probably could've bent them further.

I wonder how flexible those clips are?

Cable boots are usually for very congested spaces with lots of cables. If you've got a boot, you can slip it over the clip and pull it out without risk of it snagging. Otherwise, you've got about a 50% chance of breaking the clip on the wire with a good tug. Been there, done that.
