Making Backups of My DVD's > How To?

Im going on a long trip soon, and want to bring some of my movies, but I do not want to bring the originals for the same reason I use my iPod in my car instead of bringing the real thing: I dont want them stolen or damaged while I'm out.

Neither my Nero software nor Alcohol 120% will copy them as they are "protected."

How do you guys backup your dvd's? I just got my first DVD burner, so I'm new to this.

*edit*

BTW>>>> I want to be able to copy them directly from one drive to a blank DVD. I have a reader and a separate burner.

Do a Google for DVD DECRYPTER and another for DVD SHRINK. They ar eboth free. Rip your DVD to teh HD with Decrypter, load the files from your HD to Shrink and uncheck anything you don't want, such as foreign language tracks and 5.1 sound if you can live without it. Hit the backup button and you're done. It takes a while depending on your PC.

Thanks for all your replies. I had no idea it would take multiple programs 😛

I'm going to try them all. I did have CLONE DVD, but it didn't work by itself. ANYDVD looks like it will work.

I'll let you know how I fair 🙂

Use dvd xcopy. Also try to make iso images and store them on the HDD so you dont have to haul all of those discs every where. Use a program like damon tools that will play back the ISO's as dvd movies streight from your hard drive.
