Making an Unchanging Tempate in Word 2007

I am trying to make a template in Microsoft Word 2007. The template is for typing my lesson plans.

I want a template that won't change. If I type too much in a cell, the cells get larger and the whole plan book format changes. I want to be able to squeeze as much information in a cell as I can. Right now, I'm having to shrink the font to 8 to keep the cells from shifting. I have everything single-spaced, but even then there seems to too much of a bottom margin.

It's making me nuts! I'd be willing to send someone the file, if you can make it do what I need it to do.

But, if I see it, I may understand better what you want to begin with. Right now, it does not make much sense to me. Eventually you will run out of space. What do you expect it to do when that happens? Just not let you type anymore? Where will you type the remaining part then?

Sent the file to you your gmail address along with this... I want to be able to completely fill each cell without the cells changing size. Just as if I were writing in the cells by hand, I'd only have so much room to do so. I don't mind being limited to the available space, but I'd like to be able to use every ounce of space- in other words, I want no margins within the cells.

I see what you mean.

In the first table row, right click in a table cell after the last word, or right click in an empty cell and click on "Table Properties."

Select the "Row" tab.

Enter the height and change "At least" to "Exactly".

Click on "Next Row".
Do the same for every row.

Click "OK". Now, the height of the rows will not change anymore.


See if this solves the problem.


You may need to do something similar for the columns. But, that is a little bit different. So, try this out first.

These are the only changes I made to your template:

1- Right click in a table cell and select "Table Properties" and select the "Row" tab and select "Exactly" for the "Row height" for every row.

2- This caused the first row on the second page to move back to the first page. To fix this, bring up the table property form again and change the row height for the first row on the first page to 0.36 to match the height of the first row of the second page, and changed the height of the second row on the first page from 3.01 to 3.1.

3- Right click in a table cell and select "Table Properties" and select the "Table" tab and click on "Options". Changed the Left and Right margins to 0.04 from 0.08. You can decrease this even more. I did not want to overdo it since the table could become unreadable.


Please check it out and post here if it worked or not.

4- In the table property form, select the "Table" tab and click on "Options". Uncheck "Automatically resize to fit contents".
