thanks in advance

erm, Win 98 won't recognize NTFS partition, which is what I prefer for 2K.
I would prefer a separate partition for OS, games and data. if you put 2K at the end of the drive your drive letter will be consistent from both OSes. if you put 2K as D:, games as E: and Windows 98 didn't see NTFS 2K partition you wouldn't be able to link to games and data in the same place from both OSes, which you can do be installing apps twice for each OS in the same place.
e.g.
Win 98 - 1 Gb
games - ?
data - ?
Win 2K - 2 Gb (greedy OS)

no, I meant you should put your games / apps on a partition separate to your OSes and if you install them twice in the same place both of the operating systems could use them. you could put games on 98, but I would prefer keeping that partition small and clean for a ghost image backup, that way 2K could carry on using the programs even if you redid your 9x installation.

Or just install them in Win2k, which is pickier about registry entries, and just make shortcuts on your Win98 desktops to the game executable files. I do this all the time and almost always works ;)
