Making a left turn on a busy road

Yes it is.
In state college where I went to Penn State.
there are 2 lanes going in each direction divided by a block of buildings, no median, no soulders, no street parking, just curb + sidewalk on both sides.

Delivery Trucks will routinely stop in a lane and make their deliveries, blocking that entire lane for 15 or more minutes.
Police will do the same when they ticket an individual. Stop right in the lane, blocking it off. (theres nowhere to pull off, no on street parking)

Why signal at a red light? It's not like he's going to be going anywhere soon with that signal on and sitting at a red light. Plus the sound of the turn signal is bothersome. Why would this bother you ppl? You'd have to wait on the person regardless if they put on their turn signal at the red light or when it turns green.

Well for one, if I knew they were going to spend eternity trying to go left, I would have moved into the other lane.

Yes, that's exactly the reason. The turn signal is NOT FOR THE DRIVER of the car. It is for the OTHER people on the road so they can anticipate their next move (first rule of being a good driver).

Maybe a drive down Manhattan streets with cabbies will learn a lot of people...

in nyc you are supposed to move to the left end so you don't block traffic. at least that's what they tell you in driving school... so you are right. and I hate ppl who do this too.

Because the law (in virtually every state) requires that you begin signalling at least 100 feet before the turn. It is unlawful to wait to begin signalling until you are immediately at the turn, wait at a red light or not.

I read through your posts in this thread, and I must say that your knowledge of the traffic laws is extremely lacking. For example, the OP's beef is the law in my state. In the situation he described, traffic turning left must keep to farthest left in their lane possible in order to allow through traffic to pass on the right.

That comment is unrelated to the original post. In a seperate issue, if someone is turning left on a 2 way road, they should turn their blinkers on so ppl behind know they are going left.

The road that I was driving on IS wide enough for 2 cars, provided the turning car moves a bit left of the center. There is no "think".

I thank you for your drawing however, thats what should be done on all busy streets.
