Making a disaster/recovery CD

I'm thinking about making a bootable disaster recovery CD. I want to be able to recover lost data, check system functions, run diagnostics. What would be some suggestions as to programs / utilities to include on the CD. They need to run from DOS in case you can't get to Windows.
