You're the one telling me to grow up, and yet you're the one that posts in a 16 year old's thread about being more successful than him? Pot, kettle, black. Blow me.

My first job started out making about $15/hr editing photos in photoshop at a fashion agency when I was that age. If you're good at that sort of stuff, I think it's pretty easy to get a paid internship position like I did.

Kraeji , yeh thats a good point, i live in Long island NY, everything isn;t that far apart but not really walking distance. I'll see if i can get a job with one of my freinds.

Get on the LIRR and go to the City... Jeez.

That thing is expensive... My parents live on LI and I think an off peak ticket was costing at least $5 one way. That is like 2 hours of work for him at minimum wage just to go back + forth to a job in the city.

If you have some programming skills, maybe post a thread that you will do some programming for $$$. It might fall on deaf ears in this forum, but there might be someone on here willing to pay for it due to their lack of time/skills/etc.

Props for wanting to work for your money!

I agree with gscone...

OP was asking how to make some $$$ and gascone just gave a very simple reply about how he was able to make money when he was young.....so what was the point of saying hooray for you or whatever.

However, it is very annoying when gscone replies with a quote and types at the beginning of the quotes haha.

Work multiple jobs. When I was 16, I worked 2 jobs, was on the scholastic honors team, and got into a great university. Work hard and it'll pay off in no time.

hooray for freakin' you.

working two jobs is not a good indication of success. Quite the opposite, really....successful people don't need two jobs.

Kudos on your hard work though, it will pay off when you graduate and then you WILL be successful.

No offense, but I don't know any places that would hire a 16-year-old to do their web design or DB backend, unless there was some absolutely stellar examples on the resume.

Flip burgers, pump gas, bag groceries, cut grass.

Work a single job and you can do #1k in 4 months....if you cant, then you should check your work ethic out for a new one..

Seriously, at even $6 an hour times 20 hours per week = $120 per week. That means $1920 after 12 weeks of work, and thats after tax, because making $120 per week means you wont be paying any tax at all.....

Now figure if you get a job at your local Starbucks, etc where they pay $8 an hour to start and that number goes up!

even at minimum wage ($5.15) and only working ~20 hours/week, you'll have about $1,600 after 4 months (pre-tax).

that's what I used to do every summer during high school. I'd work 24 hours/week (max hours that BK allowed its underage employees to work), put the lion's share of my paychecks into savings, and then use that money through the school year for spending money. it also helped pay for a nice month-long trip to Europe after I graduated high school :)
