Make your own LCD projector?

GoingUp

I have seen these kits on Ebay. Are these guys full of crap or does it really work? It's only 10 bucks so I was thinkin about giving it a go, since I dont have the money for a projector.

Anyone have any experience with these things?

i heard that u put ur TV or monitor upside down and it projects from it......i'm not sure how it really works...but it is true that him and similar other sellers recieve good feedback...

It's not an LCD projector, it just kind of works the same way. You need a very dark room to get a good picture from it.

The plans are freely available on the web, the only thing you'd need to buy is a fresnel lense, which you can get several places

I know its not an LCD projoector, but for the sake of getting peoples interest I made it this title. You still are making your own projector. I was I was a british spy so my Govt could buy me a 3000 lumin LCD projector 🙁

This thing just uses a fresnel lens to "project" a TV image. If the image is 10x as big, it will only be 1/10 as bright, so you'll need a really dark room. If you're really interested in making your own projector check out these forums.

bump.....some of the screen shots look too good to be true..... anyone know of a website with more realistic pictures?

Everything I've seen in the past about these is it isn't worth it. TVs just aren't bright enough to make the image make it all the way to the wall.
You'll lose image quality too. Just save up your $$$ and buy a real big screen TV. Or do like I did - go to circuit city and try to get a credit card. Got myself a 51" HDTV that way. (0% financing for 12 months)
