Make them stop!

Cliff Notes:

[*]Have two cats
[*]They keep scratching the carpet in one area right by the door. No where else
[*]I tried this double sided sticky tape but that doesn't stop them. They just chew the tape away and keep scratching.
[*]I tried sprinkling some black pepper but that doesn't stop them
[*]I tried sprinkling some red chilli powder but that doesn't stop them!
[*]I tried spraying the crap out of them with water as well.

Any ideas on how to stop them?

pics of the punks!

TIA!

It's a little trick I like to call "Staple the cats ears to the wall in the bathroom below the tub level and then turn the water on hot and let the bathtub fill up until the cat is under water and then go grab some lunch."
Works every time.

I don't think my wife would approve of that 😀 Plus the fact I wouldn't have the heart to do it. Didn't you look at the pictures man!

Just thinking about it made me cringe. I am such a horrible person. I would as soon hurt a human than an animal. At least most humans deserve it.

I love it when people just forego the story and go straight to the cliff notes.

Zap them every time they start scratching.

There's a spray on the market which is an orange citrus to deter cats away, or if ya can put a piece of orange peel, lemon anything citrus where they are scratching. It's worked for me in the past. Everytime a cat claws or paws they leave their scent behind from the glands in their paws and they usually smell it afterwards. Rub that orange peel on the area and that will push them away.

there is only one thing to do.. Move the bodies out from under your house and dispose of them elsewhere 😛

Or get a shock mat... I used to love throwing my cats on those...

are they house cats? if so, just have them declawed.

Declawing is not a very nice thing to do to cats so we're not considering that as an option even 🙂

Tried that. Also tried dipping them in the bathtub or in the sink under running water. It just pisses them off for an hour or so and then they're back to normal (including the carpet scratching once in awhile 🙁)

why? if theyre inside cats, do they really need the claws for protection?

 for not declawing.

I recommend a shockmat - they learn pretty quick to stop the bad behavior.

they make this cat be gon spray, i cant remember what its called but you basically spary it where you dont want them and it keeps them away, worked for ours
