McDonald's already does this. It won't stop those that eat fast food every day and takes away the enjoyment from those of us who have fast food as an occasional treat.

It would be better to just learn to waht proper portions sizes are and be able to recognize them. Then only eat proper portions of generally healthy foods, if you're really worried about it. A four ounce hunk of meat for example, like a deck of cards.

I believe places like Applebees and Fridays do that for certain healthy menu items already.

FOOD IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

Inactivity is the reason for all of the fatties.

No. There's a label right on the package of all the crappy food in stores yet people keep buying it and keep eating it.

This is very true. I'm a fatty, and I only eat ~1500 kcal /day (1500 US "Calories" per day for you non-scientific types).. Don't really exercise though (outside of my commute which involves walking about 3/4 mile per day at a brisk pace), and I'm not losing weight (at least not noticeably). With that intake and a normal amount of exercise every day, I should be dropping pounds like they're going out of style.

I don't think it will make any difference.
Those who like to eat generally don't give a crap about calories, grams of fat, grams of sugar, amount of blubber, etc in food. If it tastes good, we eat it. If it tastes really good, we want a second helping, or at the very least a big portion.

PS, fvck the diet recomendations, I eat until I am full, not when I get some magic number that means I should stop. On the days when I do "count it" just to see what I eat, I usually hit around 4K calories ... sometimes more if I am drinking a lot that night.

The reason you arent losing weight is because there is more to than just how many calories you consume a day. Also there is a huge misconception that fat is bad. It isnt, I dont even look at fat grams. I look at carbs, calories, and protein. Sugar is the MOST important thing to look at. If you raise your insulin levels your body will be put into a fat storing mode. Keep insulin levels low, watch the carbs, and you will be a fat burning machine. Most people also think you have to work out hard to lose weight. Walking is actually better than running. Walking is more of a fat burner, while running will pull energy from fat, carbs, and muscle in your body. Thats why you dont see professional bodybuilders running down the road.
