I recently got a Honda Accord because now that I'm getting older, I don't have the time to work on cars like I used to even though I'm a single guy and could have definitely gotten something like a CPO BMW but I didn't want to deal with the headaches after the warranty runs out.

Accurate. A Lexus feels like a really nice Toyota...because it is. A BMW feels like someone took a car designed for the racetrack and morphed it into a luxury car.

BMW's tend to have weak brakes which don't seem designed for any sort of fast driving. Also kind of rubbery shifters. A lot of the "german" feel is down to some overdampening in the suspension tuning to make it feel as if you're driving eventfully.

They do generally drive well though, because they're one of the few companies that actually care about the experience of it. Mazda is their japanese counterpart.

I drive a 4Runner because I have no time to be dealing with issues. When I get older and have more time on my hands...I'll get something more fun.

63k miles, 3 years and working like new.

My Camry Hybrid was the same. 3 years and 60k and not a single problem. Only thing I took it in for was for one set of tires and oil changes.

Who needs brakes when you have this?

Presumably when you use that thing to get up to speed you'll want to slow down sometimes.

Anyway, the driving feel of bmw is ironically getting tuned out of their late models as they started appealing more to the general public for being a driving machine.

When you get going fast enough it wraps around to zero again.

Yah, last 4-5 years they have been going downhill in handling. Need to get the M handling packages anymore.

If the BMW had weak brakes either somebody bought the wrong model or somebody did a crappy brake job. The brakes in any of the BMW's I've driven beat the breaks in my IS's or BRZ hands down.

BMW uses simple/cheapo single piston calipers on almost all their models, even some M's. The limitations of this aren't obvious until you start braking harder.

OMG BMW's can't stop! Thank you so much for letting us know their brakes are insufficient for a loaded shopping cart. With the bulk of BMW owners hot lapping their vehicles this could serve as a valuable safety warning. Probably should be a dashboard sticker or some form of signed waiver.

The faster bmw owners are already aware of this.
