the beach. the weather. wildlife ranges from alligators and river otters to sharks and dolphins. yeah that's about it. the people here generally suck, crime is out of control, no jobs, no money, city next door was named the weirdest city in the weirdest state.

/misses West Texas badly

Pinellas county is mostly whitetrash or thugs with the exception of a few areas on the water.

Hmm...

Vancouver, WA

Pros: Housing is pretty affordable. 170k population. Right across from Portland, OR.

Cons: Very gray. Rains a lot... Snows sometimes, but it's crappy. Traffic can suck if you have to commute to Portland for your job. Any semi-decent universities are in Portland and then you have to pay more for college tuition... And commute... :| Sales Tax. Did I mention it's very gray? Boring, not many things to do here... Your place is considered shit in the shadow of Portland.

Better than living in a 4.5k town though... :)

Wauconda IL, Far NW burb of Chicago.
There are lots of forest preserves and parks near bye.
There are great trails, in the warmer months, plenty of places to go enjoy nature while biking, walking, etc. Lots of deer in the area. In the winter, plenty of trails for snowmobiling. There's a good amount of snow, usually several inches more than Chicago proper, or the near suburbs. Wauconda has nice quiet neighborhoods. If you live in an unincorporated area, it's perfect for having a nice little campfire in the back yard. Taxes are significantly better than in Cook County, but it's not quite as far west as going all the way to McHenry County. The cost of living is more affordable than many of the NW burbs of chicago, yet the neighborhoods are nicer in Wauconda. The schools in Wauconda are good. Far enough away from Chicago, that it's semi-rural; Yet only about 15 mins from the train station, so you can still go downtown if you want to.

There are some things that suck here ...
1.) WAY to fvcking hot in the summer!!!!!
2.) The nearest major office complexes with high concentration of Decent White Color jobs are a minimum of 10+ miles away
3.) Deer like to jump out in front of cars

It's by far the nicest town I've ever lived in, and I love it there. I don't plan on moving out any time soon (probably not until I can afford to retire some place up north where it doesn't get so damn hot.)

i like the cascades, and olympic mountains, don't get me wrong.
oh, and our governor sucks more then yours. :)
I didn't know the Cascades and Olympic mountains were a part of the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Huh, you learn something new every day.

Area: North of Atlanta, GA (Suburb)
4 season but not so cold in the winter that snow is a issue/concern (usually)
"Cold" isn't a season. Winter is a season. "not so cold that snow is a concern" isn't cold. Winter without snow isn't winter. You only have 3 seasons.

1) Cost of living is incredibly low (3-5 acres and 2000+ Sq. ft. with a view can be had for ~$65000)
2) Crime is practically non-existant
3) People are so nice, that you think they may be up to something, but they're not.
4) Incredible mountain views, but only 10-12 minutes from town.
5) Nice wildlife, deer all over the place.
6) Tons of creeks/streams. Most people have at least one running through their property.

Cons:
1) In order to get a decent job, you don't have many choices.

Western/central NY.

The Good
1. Housing, food and taxes are cheap.
2. Abundant casinos.
3. Close to the Ozarks and the outdoor / hiking opportunities.

The Bad
1. The dumbfucks, meth-addicts and bible thumpers, the cops, the pandering dumbfuck "religious right" politicians.
2. The schools and social services are pathetic.
3. Bullshit, antiquated, prohibitionist era liquor laws. No wine in grocery stores, only 3.2% ABV beer in grocery & convenience stores, beer with higher alcohol content & wine only sold in liquor stores which are closed on Sundays. However, you can order any mixed drink, wine or beer at a bar / restaurant on Sundays (figure that out).

We only have two seasons here. "Hot" and "windy." "Cool" makes an appearance every year, but doesn't stay long. After seeing sixteen out of twenty months I was in Colorado be winter, I'm kinda happy to be here.
