I just recently got a generic 550w psu for my existing computer... It is a Athlon 2600+ (non barton) on an Asus A7V8X motherboard w/ a gig of crucial 2700 memory. I was having trouble posting the bios previous to the new power supply, so after the power supply upgrade and flashing to a newer bios I thought my problems were fixed.... the computer would now start up fine and seemed to be performing well... I got a 5400 on 3dmark '03.... Recently I started noticing weird pixelations when playing my only 3d game... tribes 2. It didn't start immediately after the new power supply or immediately after the new flashed bios. I have a few screen shots... you can see how the pixelations are organized into columns... they vary though... sometimes around rendered buildings.. they aren't always in the same places.
Things I have tried to fix it:
1. Use older drivers for the motherboard, ati catalyst.
2. Flash the Bios back to the old version.
3. Put in the old power supply...
4. Made sure my card was cool by adding a pci slot fan right next to it (my system hovers around 105 degrees, cpu 107)
5. I formatted and reinstalled everything tonight to no avail... same exact problem.. My guess would be it is hardware related but you techies out there that thrive off of moding cards and all that stuff can probably tell me exactly what is wrong.
6. Tried a different monitor.
None of the above mentioned things have worked at all. Please help me... check out my screen shots... I hope these links work for a while. Also... the pixelation only occurs when in a 3d mode... not in standard desktop operation (browsing the forums)... it has the same problem in both Direct3d and OpenGL modes.. 16 and 32 bit as well....
