Major Website Hanging Problem

I have Verizon FIOS, using Windows XP, with Firefox 3.5.5. For a few weeks now, I get random hangs on various websites. Its consistently inconsistent. One second a website is fine, the next time I try, it hangs. If a website hangs, sometimes all I need to do, is Stop and Refresh and it goes through. Other times that doesn't work. Sometimes, bringing up a new window works. This occurs with about 1 in 3 website requests. Even for the same website, there could be a different place it hangs. Its not always the same spot.

This seems to be just a problem with my one wired computer. No issues with the wireless ones. I have another laptop which uses a wired connection, and that is OK.

Very frustrating. Any ideas? I have tried using Google Chrome. Its not just a Firefox problem. I cannot get Internet Explorer to work much at all, so for that, its even worse.

did you try resetting your router, changing the port you're plugged into and possibly updating the firmware of the router?
