I told my coworker about this just now and he said he got a pair for $160. He is talking about these specifically too. He knew exactly what sneakers I was talking about.

My wife called me on her way into work yesterday saying there were a dozen police cars with lights flashing at the mall. Apparently people broke in through the service entrance so they could wait inside to be first. Guess they weren't thinking about what would happen when the store employees showed up in the morning to find a locked dark mall overrun with shoe enthusiasts.

My wife's mall had people squatting there since Thursday. They had no less than about 16 police officers.

She never really heard of Air Jordans before, but told me these people don't look like they should be spending $200 on sneakers.

why is it when people line up for new iphones they don't riot to get in the store but simply wait in line

Because there's enough iPhones to go around?

I find it amusing the geeks will camp and line up for days for bargain TV or gadgets yet wonder why people will line up for Air Jordans.

If there's profit to be made or bragging rights involved, people will camp out.
