Noticed this a few days ago and its gotten progressively worse...

When actively using firefox (i.e. clicking on pages, typing URL's, waiting for a page to load), seems to eat up my CPU. Enough so, the mouse studders and the whole system kinda jerks around while its loading the page.

Do you have your recent chip drivers installed / video / sound / bios ?

Scanned last night, just the usual..... Checked Norton as well, no probs....

Depends on what you're doing. I have 1 Galeon window open with 17 tabs and it's using 59M physical and 130M virtual, but a lot of the virtual usage is from shared libraries, there's nearly 300 libraries mapped into galeon's address space right now.

I was browing anandtech and only anandtech at the time. I had no other Firefox windows open, and AT was the first site i visited 🙁

That does seem a little high then, could be extensions you have installed or something then, some of them can be pretty big. But even so, unless you have like 256M or less of memory, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well im not concerned about the memory usage as much as i am about the CPU cycles its grabbing. My computer stutters everytime i use the damn thing...

Highly strange considering im running an A64 3200+ w/1gb PC3200
