Letting them run into you (which is purposefully causing an accident IMHO) is not a good decision. If you claim the accident with insurance your rates will typically go up whether or not it was your fault. And what if the bad drivers don't have insurance? You'd be better off to write down their plate number, make friends with a DMV clerk, get their home address, and kidnap their dog. Leave a nasty note like,

"Remember that one time you cut off a guy in an intersection with 2 left turn lanes?
Of course not, because you are a dick and you do it all the time.
Well, now you have no dog.
Love, that guy
P.S. Call me if you want to party. XXX-XXXX"
Best idea I've heard yet! I love dogs. :)

He was turning in as I was trying to get out. He made left turn and so I was I. I hit his side door b/c I didn't stop fast enough. D*mn guy cut infront of me when he turned in.

Totally agree with U, he should speak the language that 99% of the population speaks.

1) You're on side street going to turn left.
2) He's on main road and you think he's going straight.
3) You start to pull out.
4) He changes mind or realizes late and slows fast and makes left turn.
5) You hit him in the side.

100% your fault.

ALWAYS wait for traffic to clear and NEVER assume what another driver will or will not do.

Unless they readily admit fault and you have witnesses to that fact, don't think that "getting hit" is a clear path to a new car or even a fixed car.

Last year, 2 Months after getting a new car, some hillbilly in a 1960-something Chevy Pickup that was barely roadworthy tried unsuccessfully to pass me on the right. He smashed the fvck out of my passenger side (~$3500 in damage). Because it was 10 minutes to 8 AM and everyone was on the way to work, I ended up having no witnesses that stuck around for the police, and it was eventually decided to be a "no fault" accident. Even though the dude apologized and said it was his fault at the scene, he eventually said that *I* cut him off when he made his statement to his insurance company. I get a knock against me and my insurance goes up as a result.

Hell, my brother was T-boned by a 16 year old girl who ran a red light in a busy downtown intersection a month after my ordeal. Even with witnesses on my bro's side, her insurance company denied the claim and USAA (our company) is still fighting them over it almost a year later.

Accidents suck, and insurance companies suck more.

My parents and I have had great luck with Allstate - with the amount of idiot drivers here in AA, my family's been in six accidents over the last four years. None have been our fault, and our insurance rates have remained steady.

I was driving behind this bitch in the middle lane and shes going man slow. Just when there was enough room, I changed to the right lane. Aparently she wanted to do the same, but I wasn't going to slow down to let her in. She flips me off and I smile and wave. If you can't handle your car, take the damn bus...

Speed Limit?
Her speed?
Your speed?
Your following distance?
etc? ;)

Limit is 40 and she was probably going 30 until I began riding her tail. I was maybe a half car-length behind. There was only enough room to the right for one car, and she had no sign of a blinker until I was already in the lane...

Today must be Idiot Driver day.

All of this happened on the way home from work today (about a 5 mile drive)...
1. Semi is stopped for red light in left turn lane. Asshat #1 in van passes the semi on the right, goes through the RED light, and turns LEFT in front of the semi...

2. Picture the following... Intersection of two busy 4-lane roads, with left turn lanes on both roads. I'm waiting to turn left from one direction (green light, have to yield to oncoming traffic), minivan on the opposite side of the intersection also turning left. I see a gap in the oncoming traffic, so I start to pull out; minivan is also starting to pull out. Me & minivan are about halfway into the intersection, when Asshat #2 (hiding behind the minivan) decides he wants to go straight ahead from the turn lane, and pulls out from behind minivan. So I pound on the horn & floor it, Asshat #2 misses me by couple of feet...

3. Just made right turn into parking lot at my apt. complex, Asshat #3 almost hits me head-on because she is driving down the MIDDLE of the road...

One of those days when you're just happy to get home in one piece...

However, people will stop in that right-lane and sit and wait until traffic clears enough they can get over and continue going straight.

There's a similar spot by me... Busy freeway entrance - starting about a mile before the signal where you turn to get on the freeway going south, there are signs over the lanes telling which lane to get in for the freeway (left lane to go south, middle lane to go north, right lanes to go straight through). Every time I go through there, at least one idiot suddenly discovers that they need the other lane (and almost hits somebody else trying to get there)...

one of our firefighters got killed the other day transferring a patient to a Lincoln Ne heart center. He was stopped behind a beer truck at a construction area and was rear ended by a simi doing about 70 MPH. The other Paramedic with him is critical and the patient was hurt really bad but still alive. I bet the simi driver will say "well the dumb guy stopped right in front of me it was his fault."
