ok guys first of all hi,
I'm getting pretty stressed out at the moment, i bought all my parts seperately about a month ago and had to wait on my XFX 680i motherboard. I finally got it yesterday and built it myself, usually my brother does it or helps me but he refused to this time.
Anyway to get on with it my specs are:
XFX 680i motherboard
Q6850 @ 3GHZ
2x XFX 8800GT's in SLI 512mb
Antec 1000W true power quadro
4x 1GB Corsair Dominator Pc8500
Pioneer DVR212 (SATA)
1x WD 150 GB Raptor SATA HDD
2x WD 250 GB Caviar HDD
Thermaltake Kandalf black
Ok so i've put it together, constantly checking between the case and motherboard manuals and then i finally turn it on, it begins to screech and scream. It scared the hell out of me and so i switched it off on the back, i had no idea of what it was so i got help from my brother. He had a quick look at it and said that the onboard speaker wasn't plugged in, so i found the socket after looking for ages and plugged it in.
I made sure that everything was plugged in properly, i found after looking through the manual again that my power LED cable head had three pin head but only two were used and the manual for the motherboard said to split it, so i did and then connected the cable.
I once again turned it on, the sreeching had stopped but about 5 seconds in it turned itself off, confused I lent around and went to press the on button and it turned itself back on before i could and then turned off again. I had no idea of what was going on and switched it off on the back, i again went off and got help from my brother, he couldn't find anything after turning it on several times.
He guessed after a while that the only thing it could be is a faulty power button on the case, i agreed that it could be because the button doesn't sit right and you have to press it a few times to get it back in place.
For some reason it began to turn on everytime and run properly, sometimes though the video wouldn't reach the monitor or the keyboard wouldn't work. After my brother finally was able to reach the bios the ram was working at its proper 1066mhz when the boards maximum is 800mhz.
We thought that the problem had been overcome since it continued to turn on consistently, so my brother put the vista upgrade disk in and tried to boot from it, it reached the vista loading screen and then paused. He restarted the computer and tried again, it reached the same point and then restarted, the results are always the same it either pauses or restarts.
So it installed a different drive and it does the same thing, we have no idea of what is going on and need help.
If any of you have any ideas and can help it'd be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
