I posted a thread a few weeks ago about the problem I was having with Windows XP. Lthough there were many helpful suggestions, the computer is unfortunately still idle. The computer boots up to the first Windows XP (black screen, Windows XP icon, scroll bar along the bottom). The screen turn black and that's it! I tried starting the computer in safe mode and all the other options that are provided by Windows, but the same problem happens each time I restart the computer.
Now, I am willilng to reformat the HD, but I need the information (Quickbooks files, Word documents, etc.). I set the HD up as a slave on another computer, which allows me access to the HD. Because it has been set up for multiple users, I am unable to get into the individual documents. For instance, I cannot access "my documents" for user number 1. Instead when I click on my documents the folder appears empty.
What can I do to at least recover the files?
Thanks.
