major problem! need help!

hi.. my computer keeps crashing every time start up a game after my comp has been on for a while(like over 20 mins..).. usually counter-strike.. and recently also even with trying to benchmark w/ 3dmark2001se. I'm thinking my vid card is possibly messed up? Everything launches fine though after a fresh restart. anyone know wat's wrong.

i have a kyro 2 based card(prophet4500 64mb).
athlonxp 1700 and windows xp.

what video card r u using? does it have sufficient cooling? have you tried a different video card to see if the same problem persists?

sorry.. i have a kyro2(prophet 4500). i have 3 fans so i dont think cooling is the problem.. and unfortunately i dont have any other vid. cards. its not the drivers either cuz i installed other versions and the problem persists...

any help would be great... thanks....

You don`t say what motherboard you`ve,anyway have you tried some BIOS tweaks like disable all video shadowing,disable system bios cacheable,set AGP aperture size to 64 or 128mb,try running in 2x AGP mode.

Is your motherboard VIA based chipset? If so try the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers(4.38).

If you think it might be a cooling problem try having the case open and use a big office type fan blowing in onto the card and see if that helps,what is your CPU temp?
