The argument is stupid. Whether or not the Affordable Health Care Act is accelerating or hindering the cost of medical insurance from rising, is kinda of irrelevant.

The question should be. How can any entity with profit as a motive provide proper healthcare. When it comes to private industry, do you think they have your best interest at heart or the interests of their stockholders, when its their goal to maximize profit over patient health and in some case life?

How can any entity who's goal is acquire greater power without the commensurate level of wisdom and knowledge be trusted either? Why do many insist they have the answer when they don't even know the subject? I know more than most however I don't have all the answers. How does any of this help an infrastructure which needs major improvements?

And you are trying to imply that there have been no improprieties by Democrats in the fall of our economy? Really?

Never said that but the Republicans are equally if not more liable for the Financial fall out.

Okay...

So how does an entity *without* profit as a motive provide proper healthcare? What is their incentive to provide better care?

Seems to me, that in this world, no matter how flawed we perceive our government to be, its still the best around. If by all means you feel there is a better political system, please feel free to relocate there. But I have more faith in our "entity" (government) to self correct, then in private industry to place people before profit.

Yeah, except they disclose everything and the reasons why are "obamacare" so it's costing me more money to get the same service I did before.

And what were the reasons of out-pacing inflation by leaps and bounds before Obamacare? Of course insurers are going to blame Obamacare, what do you expect them to do? Take responsibility for fleecing you and/or your employer?

15 years? Really? 2007/2008/2009/ all Democrat controlled purse strings...We are in the mess we are in today because they pissed away a whole year while the economy was crashing, focusing on cramming this down our throats.

Yeah, how about a little self direction with the hyper critical critique.

Onus was on Republicans to offer their alternative, after they blocked Democrat health reform in 1993. They did less than nothing. 1993-2008 is 15 years. Even if you insist we use 2006 instead of 2008, that's 13 years. 13 years that Republicans did absolutely nothing about runaway health care cost increases after blocking the Democrats from doing anything. In the meantime health care costs rose to twice what other developed countries pay per capita for better health care and universal coverage. GOP has no solutions for this country's health care problems. If they did, they had ample time to implement them. Not only that, but when Obama went and implement the solutions that GOP itself was proposing in the 90s, they attack him for it, and want to repeal those reforms.

I don't believe anything. I look at the evidence then form an opinion over time. I'm not supporting things based on faith any more than I do a Six Day creationist view. Medicaid has been in need of serious reform for decades and it remains pretty much as it was when created before most were born. I'm not interested in a hypothetical. I'm interested in well informed and well crafted solutions with health care itself being improved. What some call health care is really a discussion about how to give everyone a way through the toll booth, but the bridge itself? Well a little faith does miracles it seems.

Getting reelected.

Really? You think the administrators of the bureaucratic disaster that is government are elected? Even if they were, look at congress: they are elected and rarely have the welfare of the people as a priority.

The "for profit can't work" stuff is plain stupid. There has to be an incentive to do things better, there has to be competition.

The only health care they care about is there own.

More than 2.65 million Medicare recipients have saved more than $1.5 billion on their prescriptions this year, a $569-per-person average, while premiums have remained stable, the government plans to announce today.

"We're very pleased with the numbers," Jonathan Blum, director of the Center for Medicare, told USA TODAY. "We found the Part D premiums have also stayed constant, despite predictions that they would go up in 2012."

The Department of Health and Human Services announced in August that 2012 Medicare prescription drug plan premiums would average about $30 a month, compared to $30.76 in 2011.

Yeah, what a failure this law has and will be. lol.

Health care providers should most certainly be pursuing profit IMO, it incentivizes providing the best care for the least money. What doesn't make sense is for health INSURANCE to be for profit.

In a health care provider case as with most other businesses there are lots of different ways to craft a win-win situation for both parties as cheap and effective care helps you both. In cases of insurance on the other hand, the desires of the customer and the desires of the insurance company are almost diametrically opposed. (every dollar they pay for care comes right out of their profits) It's an insane arrangement when you think about it. That's why health insurance is one of the things that the government is best suited for. There's a reason why some people refer to the government as 'an insurance company with an army', and it's because that's one of its most effective functions.

Why don't you enlighten those much inferior to you and explain what TROOP is, how it's changed over time and how that would affect premiums? We're all aquiver.

Why don't you quit trolling? 😛

A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose actual point of view is opposed to the one that the user claims to hold. The concern troll posts in Web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group.

btw don't think I don't support the idea of a "socialized" health care industry. I do, it just isn't going to work without rebooting our system. What we have no will never work the way people want it to. That's why I dislike this new legislation. It doesn't solve anything, just creates more problems. That's what happens though when you do band aid fixes to placate the masses in order to retain your seats of power.

It doesn't solve the problem of pre-existing conditions? It doesn't extend coverage to tens of millions of Americans who aren't currently covered? It doesn't limit the fraction of premiums wasted on profit and overhead? It doesn't allow young adults to stay on their parents health-insurance plans longer? It doesn't eliminate lifetime coverage limitations?

If these aren't substantive improvements, I really wonder what improvements you realistically expect.

I guarantee you that if typical Americans find out what Obamacare really is, rather than the straw man system the right and the insurance industry are portraying, it will be VERY popular.

Up here in Canada we have Universal health care which means everyone regardless of social standing gets free health care without going bankrupt just because you get sick.

This is why Canada is always way above the U.S. in quality of life according to the U.N.

What negative changes in your insurance do you attribute to the ACA, and why?

Our deductible on our HSA has gone up. Also our FSA money cant be used on things like tylenol or OTC medicines like it used to be. While our premiums are increasing. I think there is also a cap or elimination of our FSA coming down the pipe.

Your damn lucky you don't have to deal with the Republicans in the US lol.
Everytime I goto Canada you guys can't believe our Healthcare for profit model we put up with down here. Bottom line when you croak your Health Insurance Company profits.
