Are there any major changes in Nero 6 that aren't in 5.5? I thought DVD writers weren't supported but I just needed to update my 5.5.

Besides the look and feel. Is there much of a difference between a fully updated 5.5 and a fully update 6?

6 is nice, but 5.5 seems much snappier...

I don't think there is any difference between the standard burning software if I'm honest and 5.5 does seem a little sharper. However, Nero 6 is marketted as a "suite" where you get the normal burning software, Video authoring, sound editing and CD tools all in one package. I read somewhere also that Nero 5.5 will not be updated to take into consideration new burners/features etc any longer but only version 6.

A quote from their website...

With Nero 6, Ahead Software presents the follow-up to the famous burning solution Nero Burning ROM 5.5.

Nero 6 is now a whole suite of applications wrapped around the ultimate project launcher Nero StartSmart. Nero 6 is your all-in-one solution!

With all the powerful and fun applications now included in Nero 6, you can manage all your CD and DVD burning tasks with flying colours. Burning DVD-Video, Photo, Data, Audio or BackUp ? just sit back and see Nero 6 handle it all with ease. But this is only one part of the new all-in-one solution. Nero 6 also includes applications to edit audio and video, mix multiple audio tracks like professionals, watch VCD, SVCD and DVD movies, listen to music, design covers, optimize your drive´s performance and lots, lots more!

If I'm honest unless your interested in the "other" features Nero 6 brings it's prolly not worth the upgrade, unless it was free of course. I would check on their website as ppl with certain versions of Nero 5.5 are eligable for a free upgrade.

;)

i really feel nero 5.5 is better than nero6 if you're just using regular CD burning.

btw. does anyone know how to stop nero from keeping the iso name? (that is, open a new session (ISO) named MyCD_1 , burn a cd. close nero, and open a new ISO, and the cd name is the last one i did (MYCD_1) and Not the default which is 'NEW',

This happens in version 6 too. Kind of annoying isn't it? They did resolve it one of the updates but it has since returned... :frown:
