About 2.5 months ago I was starting up the demo for Grand Prix 3 and the resolution changed as it normally does, but the screen looked as though the brightness had been reduced several orders of magnitude. When I opened my monitor's on screen display to fix it, I found that the language had been switched to Japanese and that the settings were locked. No matter what I did, I could not unlock the monitor nor revert the settings to their previous state. Dell, the maker of my monitor, was of absolutely no help and couldn't send me a new one since my 3 year replacement parts policy had just expired.
The only way around it was to artificially bump up the brightness using software, which worked pretty well. I figured I'd keep it like this until I got a new rig for college next year, until I ran GP3 again tonight (I figured it was a one-time freak occurance). Well, just as it was switching the resolution to the one required for in-game play, it screwed my monitor even more. Now everything is smushed onto the right half of the screen, making it nearly impossible to do anything. On the bottom left, there's an image of what looks like a picture tube with an "X" through it. As before, I can't change a thing. But this time, I can't fix it through software.
Does anyone have any tips, or am I SOL?
Thanks in advance,
DFly
