I remember hearing a story where some south American rebels got hold of a 106 and decided it would be a good idea to hide it in a house and fire it out of the window. When they fired it, it blew out the whole back of the house and brought the roof down on their heads.

I would LOVE to see a video of THAT! 😉

It takes about 5 psi of overpressurization to take down a house. That's not hard with an artillery piece.

Jeez, I remember styrofoam cups full of iced tea exploding in my hands because I was standing too close to the guns when they were fired.
How did that happen? The cups got crushed?

No, the pressure is so intense on the cups they simply come apart and the iced tea vaporized.
:Q What happened to you?

What happened to you?

Nothing, just got soaked with iced tea. My hearing is a little damaged from the years of being on the gun line without ear plugs. We were supposed to wear ear plugs which were issued to us and it was a regulation to wear them but you can't hear the fvcking radio with them on, so hardly any one did. Other than that, I have all my fingers which a lot of artillerymen can't say.

I was in pretty much the same situation around the aircraft I worked on. You had ear protection, and a RADIO. Like you could HEAR the radio with the "mickey mouse ears" on.
